Dental implants give you a beautiful – and secure – smile.

Implants mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. They are comfortable, stable, and last for years – giving you the ability to eat and enjoy life in a way that isn’t possible with dentures or bridges.

How dental implants work

A dental implant is generally a titanium cylinder that is anchored to the jawbone that acts as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. In some cases, we use implants to attach dentures (see our Mini Implants page).

And, depending on the individual, Dr. Filler may be able to place an implant and insert a tooth in the same visit. However, not everyone is a candidate for a dental implant. For a successful implant to take hold, you must have proper bone density and a strong immune system.

Working closely with a periodontist or oral surgeon, Dr. Filler will view all necessary CT scans to ensure optimal placement of your implant. Because the implant needs time to take hold in the jaw for bone tissue to build up and anchor the fixture, the actual replacement tooth is not placed until 4 – 6 months following surgery.

Once Dr. Filler deems the implant ready, she then places your new tooth – which is fabricated in a lab to exact specifications and color match. You will then leave our office with a beautiful and natural-looking smile!

Are dental implants right for you?

Dr. Filler can work with your periodontist or oral surgeon or recommend one to you – as well as consult with you to determine if you’re a candidate for implants.
